Amazing location for a ski trip. We loved the hot tub & sauna and the staff were super helpful. The ski lockers & boot warmers were great too. Highly reccomend!
I arrived at this hotel, I had a pleasant welcome from the two receptionists, I was put in the mountaineer lodge with a view to die for! Over looking the mountains.
Room was very clean, location was perfect, very quiet, food in the freezer at reception (warm it in the microwave). Great wifi, only an hour from lake Louise.
The only one thing I didn’t have in my room was air conditioning. But with a view of the mountains at sun down who cares.
I highly recommend this place to stay at. You won’t regret it.
Lovely location set in what seems like the middle of the wilderness.
Rooms are very comfy and well equipped with mini kitchens, views from the balcony are sublime.
The parking charge is something that should be only made if using the underground parking though, if parking outside the hotel then that should be free...bit of a cheek to charge for parking out on a dirt strip.
This aside well worth a stay over!
Do not stay in the Queen Room. $170 for the worst stay of my life! I want to share how disappointed I am with this Lodge. The room I stayed in stated it had a queen size bed. It did not!! The “Queen” room had barely enough room to walk around in. The balcony was covered in bird poo and included a bird nest. We had flies in our room. The shower curtain and blankets had a yellow color to them and the sheets were so starchy I was up all night. When I brought all this up to the front desk. They did nothing. Save yourself the headache and stay at Travel lodge or literally anywhere else in Golden.
When we got here, we were told that our room was in the next building which had several stairs to the entrance door. There was no instructions from the receptionist on how to load up our luggages; it wasn't until later that we found out that there was a back door with an elevator. So it was fun going up and down those stairs with heavy things in tow.
The dishwasher was broken. Someone came to fix it. It wasn't inspected prior? The information sheet stated that the dirty dishes should be loaded onto the dishwasher prior to leaving and then run it. The previous user didn't do that, probably....
The toilet was smelly and disgusting. We asked for it to be cleaned but apparently there is no housekeeping (although I saw a door in the hallway labeled as such). We were told that there's a $35 fee for cleaning on top of the $600+ we paid for our stay.
There's only one window blinds in a two- windows bedroom. We called for one to be mounted right after we got here; someone came but up until we left, none was installed.
I don't recommend this place. Just too much inconvenience for the price you pay. This is also a 15 minutes drive up from Golden, BC.
This place needs to stop using the Covid excuse as a scapegoat for poor serivce, they don't do any room service of any sort, no stocking up toiletries, kitchen supplies, new towels, making beds none of it because of Covid. Addtionally you have to book indepedant use of the hot tub which is just inconvienent. Covid literally isn't even a thing anymore, they don't have all these precaustions because someone has a cold so why do it with Covid, to save themselves money of course.
Does the price of a room reflect the fact that they're saving money, of course it doesn't.
Overall we found the room to be decent, it's large, the bed very comfy and generally clean and modern.
The restaruant doesn't open everyday but to be honest the food was very mediocre, very plain and very little choice, it's worth the 15 min drive to town to find something better.
Overall not a terrible experience but it really annoys me when places are still using Covid as an excuse to save themselves money and offer a worse service.
For a summer stop over, this was a welcome and comfortable place to spend the night. Yes the 1 bedroom unit has seen better days but the wear and tear is expected for hordes of skiers beating it up. There is no a/c but I appreciated the commercial grade standing fan and high speed ceiling fan, as well as the many screened windows and the large balcony. The kitchen is reasonably stocked and it was a relief to have washer and dryer on a long road trip. The bathroom is huge. At the hotwire price, I would definitely stay again.
We didn't encounter any disastrous issues during our stay at Glacier Mountaineering, but we were disappointed in the two-night experience in several ways. First, upon our evening arrival, we discovered that the restaurant was closed that day, which came as a sad surprise, given the distance back to in-town restaurants. Advance notice of this closure would have been extremely helpful. Next we discovered that our room was much smaller than any of the rooms featured in promotional photos—so small in fact that there were no chairs (except on the the chilly balcony) no desk, and no luggage racks or even appropriate surfaces for setting down our suitcases. Another problem that arose from the generally cramped conditions was that the mini refrigerator had to be wrestled out from under the counter and unplugged, with some difficulty, in order to put a stop to the constant buzzing just inches from my pillow. In addition, the microwave, coffee pot and hot water kettle were so crammed together on the countertop that the act of plugging one or the other in (three appliances for two electrical outlets) was very awkward. To conclude, guests should be made aware ahead of time of the possibility of being placed in a comically tiny room.
